SEO Techniques Perfect for Your Cupcake Business
Rename your photos / images to reflect how you would like them to appear in search results
This is a brilliant technique for tearing up the image search results in Google (which many people use to find images of cupcakes). It’s also a very easy technique that even the biggest technophobe can handle.
Here’s an example: Your website has a logo, it’s current file name is “my-logo.jpg”. This isn’t going to help you in any way with SEO. Whose logo is this, what does is represent?
These are the important points that you need to consider. With this in mind how about we change that file name to “Your-Cupcake-Business-Name-London.jpg” replace “Your-Cupcake-Business-Name” with your own cupcake business name and then change “London” to wherever you’re based.
This will work wonders for your SEO, now when someone searches for your business in Google your logo will appear in the search results, whereas before is wouldn’t have!
Once your ready re-upload it to your website and replace your old logo.
Titles of Pages and Posts
The titles of your website pages (and posts if you’re using WordPress, blogger etc.) can be crucial to helping your website appear in the search results when the right searches are made.
Here’s an example: You run a cupcake company in Birmingham and you deliver to the local area, what are potential customers likely to search for to find you? In this case the perfect keywords would be “cupcakes delivered Birmingham” or “Birmingham cupcake company”.
You need to get these words into your web page titles as much as you can. A great way of doing this would be the title of your home page, “Your Cupcake Business Name – Cupcakes Delivered Around the Birmingham Area” this will tell the search engines that this web page should appear when people search for “cupcakes delivered Birmingham” “cupcakes Birmingham” and also “Your Business Name Birmingham”.
Compare this to just having “Your Cupcake Business Name” as the title and you’ll notice a big difference in search engine traffic to your website.
Text on Home Page
Including plenty of relevant and descriptive text is a really good way of letting the search engines know what your website is about and how it should appear in search results.
Use all of the keywords that you would like to target (words that people will search for in Google then your website will appear) in the description on your home page.
Be sure to include:
• Your business name
• Area that you’re based in or deliver to
• The main services that you offer eg. cupcake gift boxes, cupcake delivery, cupcake tower, wedding cupcakes
If you find this difficult to understand, don’t worry take your time and got through it. If you haven’t got the funds to pay a web designer / SEO specialist at the moment then you will have to do it yourself!
Go on, give these techniques a try in your spare time and see if it helps your ranking in the search engines. It won’t happen over night, but give it a week or two and you should start to notice a difference in your websites position in the rankings!
